DCI�s International Secretariat, based in Geneva, Switzerland, operates as an international focal point for the DCI movement, providing an invaluable link between DCI�s national sections and the United Nations.     

The International Secretariat seeks updated information from each section and associate member at regular intervals and uses this experience in the field to illustrate and deepen its input to child rights advocacy and monitoring at the UN, and with other international organisations.

DCI�s International Secretariat therefore concentrates mainly on research, monitoring, information dissemination, networking, lobby, and advocacy work. As of January 2006, in line with the movement�s International Action Plan on Juvenile Justice, this work has had a particularly strong focus on juvenile justice issues.  The Secretariat also has a clear mandate to carry out technical assistance and capacity building to its national sections and associated members.
