DCI-Costa Rica: Dialogues and Reflections on the Convention on the Rights of the Child

From July 21st-24th, DCI-Costa Rica will hold the first Week of Dialogues and Reflections on the Convention on the Rights of the Child with the support of UNICEF Costa Rica, the National Child Welfare Agency, the Universidad Estatal a Distancia (UNED), Universidad Latina (ULatina) of Costa Rica and the Office of the Ombudsman.

These activities will mark the 20th anniversary of DCI-Costa Rica, the 35th anniversary of Defence for Children International, and the 25th anniversary of the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC). They are part of an annual series of events due in September, November and December respectively. November's gathering will feature the Vice President of the Child Rights Committee of the United Nations, Mrs. Sara Oviedo.

The planned functions will contribute to a better interpretation of the Convention on the Rights of the Child. After the final event, DCI-Costa Rica will issue a comprehensive publication comprising 17 General Comments, "Practical Guide for proper implementation", with training on the Practical Guide scheduled for 2015.
