Project to stop sexual abuse of children by children and children by adults –
Oak Foundation.

After a preliminary phase coordinated by Defence for Children International Costa Rica, where the objectives of the project and the methodology were formulated by a working group involving the participation of 10 DCI sections in five different world regions, a second phase will start in September 2004, under the coordination of the International Secretariat. The project aims at the prevention and reduction of sexual abuse in educational or state run institutions. Among the elements of the project, there is an innovative approach: working with victims and victimisers, helping them to change their abusive behaviour, or by giving them elements to overcome the consequences of abuse. The project will run from 2004 – 2006.

Countries:

  • Middle East : DCI sections Israel and Palestine .
  • Africa: DCI sections Nigeria, Uganda and Sierra Leone.
