The pre-sessional working group of the Committee on the Rights of the Child will consider the fifth periodic report of France on Monday 8 June 2023 in Geneva, in anticipation of its presentation at the 71st session of the Committee in January 2016.
Defence for Children International-France was involved in the production of an alternative report on the state of the rights of the child in France between 2009 and 2014, which has been submitted to the Committee earlier this year.
The alternative report is the result of the AEDE – Acting Together for the Rights of the Child – project, initiated in 2013 by DCI-France in coordination with Solidarité Laïque. The AEDE project reunites 56 organizations that are active players in the promotion and protection of the rights of children. In addition to producing an alternative report, the AEDE project has aimed at reactivating a long-abandoned dialogue between the authorities and the civil society for a better respect of the rights of the child in France.
