International General Assembly The International General Assembly (IGA) takes place every three years and usually accompanies an international conference on current child rights issues. It is hosted by a section and IGAs have taken place in Haikko, Finland (1987), Granada, Spain (1992), Dakar, Senegal (1997). The 8th IGA will take place in May, 2002, in Mar del Plata, Argentina. The IGA sets the policy and priorities of DCI, establishes a united DCI/DEI/DNI position on key issues, and makes guidelines for the activities of the International Secretariat. It elects the President and Treasurer and the International Executive Council, for terms of three years, or until the next IGA.
